Can't email with Outlook after 2016.3 update

If you've always emailed invoices and reports from Sage 50, using your Microsoft Outlook, this may no longer work after upgrading to version 2016.3.  Sage is aware of this issue and has posted this fix.

Below are the contents of the link:

  • Issue in Sage 50 2016.3 product update: When using Outlook or other MAPI email programs, Sage 50 forms (invoices, receipts, direct deposit stubs) cannot be emailed through Sage 50. Receive error message, "An error occurred preparing the email for sending."
  • Cannot email using Sage 50 2016 after the release 3 update with email program
  • Using Outlook 2007, 2010, 2013, or Thunderbird will not sent email after updating to Sage 50 2016.3

To resolve the issue, download and extract the attached updated version of the Sage_SA_Email.exe file and replace the previous version in the Program Files Folder where the Sage 50 program is installed. By default it would be installed to C:\Program Files (x86)\Sage 50 "Version" 2016.

 

  1. Download the Sage_SA_Email.exe file using the Download button below or use the Direct Download link
  2. Save the file in the Program Files Folder where Sage 50 is installed (Default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Sage 50 "Version" 2016.)
  3. Close and reopen Sage 50 if it is open or open Sage 50 program
  4. Email using Outlook or other MAPI programs through Sage 50 2016.3

This fix is not a product update. Your company files will not be updated and will remain compatible between users who install the updated email component and those who do not.
